Pest Alert: Formosan and Asian subterranean termites
Things are getting buggy in South Florida. Well, Florida has always been a little buggy, but Super Termites are becoming a big thing.
What is a Super Termite?
Sun-Sentinel weather and wild Florida reporter, Chris Perkins, recently wrote an article about the arrival of Formosan and Asian subterranean termites.
Termites are not usually a nuisance for Florida trees because they prefer dead or harvested wood. However, this super species type is wreaking havoc on live trees because they are attracted to the pheromones released by living but damaged trees. Damage can be caused by any number of things and isn’t always visible to the casual observer.
What can you do to avoid termite infestation?
If you suspect you may have a problem, get your trees inspected. Nanak’s employs ISA certified arborists and Certified Pest Control Operators who can help you with inspecting your trees as well as preparing a treatment plan for damaged trees.
