Nanak’s Landscaping was recently awarded the Florida Nursery, Growers, and Landscape Association (FNGLA) Award for Excellence in the New Installation – Theme Park category for the work on the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort project.

The 2016 FNGLA Landscape Award winners were recognized at The Landscape Show on September 16 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

The Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort project required Nanak’s to create a Key West atmosphere. The owner and project manager wanted to guests to feel like they were walking down Duval Street with 30-year-old Coconut Palms swaying in the ocean breezes surrounded by lush tropical landscaping. It had to have instant impact and give the impression it had been in place for many years with mature palms and under plantings.

While not having the luxury of allowing the mature plantings time to acclimate to their new environment, more than 200 mature Coconut Palms were installed. The relentless pounding of the ocean breezes made the job of watering and maintaining palm and plant health an arduous task. But the drip irrigation, combined with careful nurturing by the Nanak’s team, helped create the tropical experience that guests expect from the resort.
